Solana Beach is located in northern San Diego County along Historic Hwy 101. Due to it's climate, it is a very pleasant place to live and visit throughout the year. Located approx 22 miles from the city of San Diego, and in between Encinitas and Del Mar, one can enjoy two miles of pristine and beautiful bluffs, coves, and coastline. Golf Course Country Club is on the east, Lagoon Regional Park to the north, the Del Mar Racetrack to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the West with I-5 dividing the city north and south.
Del Mar race track is just five mintues away. Fletcher Park is on a strip of sandy beach. Cedros Design District offers many cafes and restaurants, with live music ranging from Blues to rock, and jazz to hip hop. Solana Beach is popular among retiries as well as vain yongsters sunbathing and training.
Parks in Solana Beach include: Tide Park Beach at 302 Solana Vista Dr., Seascape Surf at 501 S. Sierra Ave., Fletcher Cove at 111 S. Sierra Ave., and Del mar Shores Terrace at 180 Del Mar Shores Terrace. Fletcher Cove is a popular place to watch the ocean waves crash into the bluffs and has a public park with public parking, a basketball court and restrooms. They also have volleyball, shuffleboard, showers, and picnic tables. This small beach is inaccessible during high tide.
There is surfing and snorkeling with lifeguards and free parking at Tide Beach Park. Tide Beach Park is is just north of Fletcher's Cove and can be found at Pacific Ave and Solana Vista Dr. The beaches are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
